Colossians 1:9-12 (NIV)
9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,[a] 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you[b] to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.
That we would have someone, much less a group Paul’s, who would pray for us each day!
Can you imagine it? The power of this prayer prayed each day for you and I helping to make us worthy and equipping us (spiritually) for the work ahead of us!
This scripture captures such core needs for our individual ministry;
- God to fill you with the knowledge of his will
- With wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives
- So that we may live a life worthy of the Lord
- Pleasing him in every way
- Bearing fruit
- Growing in the knowledge of God
- Being strengthened
- With all Power
- According to His glorious might
- So that we might have great endurance and patience
- Being qualified to share in the inheritance of His holy people
That is a LOT of equipping in one scripture, in a single prayer!
This is what we are called to do for one another so that we might fulfill the task we have each been given.
Consider one other in ministry who you might pray this power scripture for and let them know you are working to strengthen them.
We each need prayer support, yet our prayers tend to focus most on our needs or the immediate needs of others. Equipping and strengthening prayers for ours and others ministries are just as needed. Maybe more so, especially in this time in history.
